Quarterly Character Strengths
Each quarter, Feaster Charter School students learn more about two new character strengths. Throughout the quarter, teachers work to recognize these character strengths in the students and help them see these strengths within themselves and other learners:
Quarter One

Emotional Self Control: I am flexible and resilient, I allow others to speak without interruptions
I am polite, I am able to remain calm and work to resolve a conflict peacefully
Quarter Two
Curiosity: I am eager to explore new things, I ask questions, I take an active interest in learning
Self Control (School Work): I follow directions, I come to class prepared, I pay attention and resist distractions, I am focused on my work, I complete my work to the best of my ability
Quarter Three
Zest: I actively participate, I show enthusiasm, I approach new situations with excitement and energy
Gratitude: I notice when others help, I show appreciation for the good things in my life, I do nice things to thank others, I say “thank you”
Quarter Four
Grit: I try hard even after experiencing failure, I keep working hard even when I feel like quitting, I follow through on my commitments, I stick with a project and finish it to the best of my ability, I stay committed to my goals
Optimism: I believe my effort will improve my future, I believe that I can improve with practice,
I stay motivated even when things don’t go my way

-AVID
AVID is being offered to all students in grades 5-8 at Feaster Charter. By providing time to develop leadership skills, reflect on learning, master communication, and articulation skills, and complete inquiry-based projects, our students at Feaster Charter are developing the soft skills that are needed to be successful in post-secondary school and any future careers. For more information on AVID and how the program works, please visit their website: AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination.
