Executive Director Welcome Letter

July 20, 2021

Dear Parent / Guardian:

We are pleased to greet students on campus, in-person, again as we start the new school year! Wednesday, July 21, will be exciting not only for our students but for our entire staff.

Last year was difficult for all of us. Returning to school full-time in-person will bring a sense of normalcy and a continued focus on teaching and learning. However, this is not a time for us to get too comfortable, we must continue to follow COVID-19 protocols that aim to keep us safe and healthy. Vaccination is currently the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic, and San Diego County continues to be a leader in the state in regards to vaccination rates. In addition, Feaster Charter School has all the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures to keep students and staff safe. Our ventilation systems are fully functional, purifiers are in all classrooms, and classrooms are stocked with safety supplies. Our goal is to optimize student learning by making sure safety measures are in place.

The current guidance to fully reopen schools is that masks must be worn by anyone unvaccinated. All students must wear masks regardless of vaccination status when indoors. Masks are still required indoors in K-12 schools, per the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Masks will be required indoors by all adults whenever students are present, no exceptions. Students do not have to wear masks when outdoors, lunch will continue to be served outside. We will have additional masks if students lose them or soil them but packing an extra mask for students would be helpful. Just like always, we will continue to practice hand washing before and after eating and hygiene. Thank you for understanding that all students, until further notice, will have to wear a mask to access the school.

We continue to work and partner with CVESD, please read the District's welcome back Safe Return to School handbook for more information by clicking on this  link

As additional questions come up as school resumes, please do not hesitate to contact us at 619-422-8397.

Thank you for trusting us with your precious children. We look forward to building great relationships will all community members to help us give our students, your children, the best possible learning experience.

Sincerely,

Mr. Villareal

Dear Parent / Guardian:

We are happy to greet students at school, in person, again as the new school year begins! Wednesday July 21 will be exciting not only for our students, but for all of our teaching staff.

The current guidance for fully reopening schools is that anyone who is not vaccinated should wear a mask. All students must wear masks regardless of immunization status when indoors. VAPA Principal Welcome Letter

Hello Falcon Community and welcome to Feaster's Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VAPA). At Feaster we continue to lead in creating and developing premier VAPA programs to meet the needs of our students. Our VAPA program provides a progressive K-8 curriculum that teaches our students the importance of art, music, and dance, while they develop their appreciation for the creative process. Students have the opportunity to engage in the arts in both their specialty classes as well as in their homeroom class. During a typical school day, students use VAPA standards as an alternative way to explore and express a standards-based curriculum. I believe this form of exploration and expression is critical in the learning process because it allows our students to demonstrate their understanding using various methods. I am confident that our VAPA programs have contributed to our academic successes and outstanding state scores. I look forward to supporting our students both creatively and academically in all of their future endeavors!

Sincerely,

Stephanie G. Dominguez

STEAM Middle School Associate Principal/STEM Interim Principal

Dear Middle School Parents and Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Feaster Charter Middle's STEAM Academy.

Feaster exists to foster the academic, social, emotional and physical achievement of every student on campus. It is my personal belief that our students deserve every opportunity to excel not only academically, but also emotionally. Feaster Middle School shares this same belief.

In the short time the STEAM academy has been up and running, it has done an outstanding job in providing our students with unique opportunities through our partnership with the Thinkabit Lab and exposing our students to different avenues of higher education through our College Week (to name just two of the many unique experiences we provide for our students).

Our STEAM academy holds students to a high standard and develops our students into 21st century learners through the integration of not only the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), but also Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) into the curriculum. Students in the STEAM Academy truly get the best of both worlds as they are exposed to rigorous curriculum through both VAPA and STEM classes and electives.

Feaster Charter Middle truly is one of kind. I invite you to come and visit our campus and see what makes us stand out from all other Middle Schools.

Sincerely,

Angelica Sleiman

Associate Principal, STEAM Academy

Our Vision

At Feaster Charter School, students are at the center of all decision making. We prepare our students to become 21 st  century learners in a multicultural society by infusing Visual & Performing Arts as well as Science, Technology, Social Studies, Engineering & Mathematics into our daily curriculum and literacy instruction. This integration challenges our students to communicate and think critically, creatively and collaboratively. By introducing the Arts and Sciences we are fostering leadership and reasoning skills, as well as increasing self-esteem at a young age to make a life changing impact. The students who leave Feaster Charter School will be lifelong learners who are on their way to being college and career ready.
